I’m what they call a local yokel. Born and raised in Greenville. A lover of all things South Carolina. Pure G.R.I.T.S. (Girl Raised in the South). My roots here run deep. I remember when Woodruff and Haywood Roads were wooded with a few houses and businesses scattered along the way. In fact, I spent hours horseback riding where the Haywood Mall, Embassy Suites at Verdae, and Legacy Square now sit. Yeah, I’ve been here a long time.
I’ve seen Greenville go from a sleepy southern town to the booming, vibrant city it is today. I love to brag about my hometown and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I moved away a few times – for college, a man, and a job – but I always came back, and I’ve been back for 21 years.
While it’s a little sad that my childhood home was removed about 15 years ago to make way for a big development off Verdae, my old neighborhood is now home to gorgeous houses, booming businesses, and a beautiful park where I’ve enjoyed hanging out with my boys over the years. And to say things have come full circle for me , is an understatement. The exciting news? FUEL is relocating its office to The Sumerel building Rocky Slope Road, a stone’s throw distance from where my childhood home once sat. Now I will be working in a beautiful new building that overlooks where I grew up. This area holds many special memories for me as a child, and now I get to return to this once dead-end, country road and enjoy it from a completely new perspective.
Greenville is a Southern town with the charm and hospitality you would expect and the culture, entertainment, and conveniences that simply delight you. It’s also a hotspot for creative agencies serving the needs of businesses throughout this area.
FUEL is evolving and creating a hybrid workspace in a booming location. Taking big steps and making big changes to keep our firm moving forward in this post-pandemic world. And I’m simply glad to be a part of it – my new life colliding with my childhood. A new space that will inspire creativity and collaboration. A place to reconnect with my teammates after months of working remotely. I can’t wait to see the space come together and enjoy many brainstorming sessions on the porch at The Sumerel building, overlooking my childhood stomping ground. Truly, back to my roots.
